George A Romero, an American-Canadian filmmaker and director of horror exemplary Night of the Living Dead, has passed away at the age of 77.
In an announcement, George A Romero’s producing co-worker Peter Grunwald said the filmmaker passed away in his rest after a ‘brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer’.
Night of the Living Dead, a small scale spending zombie movie mixing horror and social parody, which Romero co-directed with John Russo, was released in 1968 and turned into a cult exemplary.
It spawned a series: Dawn of the Dead (1978), Day of the Dead (1985), Land of the Dead (2005), Diary of the Dead (2007) and Survival of the Dead (2009), The Guardian states.
