Rapper DMX was captured Thursday (July 13) and accused of tax fraud by the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and a specialist from the Internal Revenue Service.

DMX, whose given name is Earl Simmons, owes $1.7 million in taxes and has engaged in a multi-year scheme to conceal millions of dollars of income from the Internal Revenue Service, according to the prosecutors.

Rapper surrendered to law authorization specialists and will be displayed Friday in Manhattan government court in front of United States Judge Andrew J. Peck.

In the past, the rapper has admitted to having mental health issues, including depression and bipolar disorder, as well as battles with substance abuse and stints at various rehab centers, billboard.com states.
