Red Star Belgrade beat FC Cologne 1-0 at home in the UEFA Europa League Group H Round 6 late Thursday to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition, which will be their first “European spring” in 25 years.
In a fantastic atmosphere in front of 51,364 spectators at the Rajko Mitic Stadium in Belgrade, Slavoljub Srnic scored the winning goal for Red Star in the 22nd minute after a great play by Nenad Krsticic and Milan Rodic.
Arsenal crushed BATE Borisov 6-0 in London to win the group stage with 13 pts, with Red Star in second with 9 pts, followed by Cologne (6 points) and BATE (5 points).
Elsewhere, Partizan, who had already secured a berth in the knockout stage, lost 4-1 at Dynamo Kyiv in the last round of Group B.
The draw for the Europa League Round of 32 will be held in Nyon on Monday.
